Another hog confinement is being proposed for an area east of Churdan that, according to board of supervisors John Muir is “a pretty saturated area, getting to be.”
County planning and zoning coordinator Chuck Wenthold reported to the supervisors Tuesday that he received a master matrix for Grey Owl Farms 4 LLC, Kave Finisher Farm Site, for three buildings and a capacity of 7,400 head. The site is located in Section 27 of Highland Township. There are already eight hog buildings within a mile of the proposed site.
Grey Owl Farms is owned by Iowa Select Farms.
The master matrices for Grey Owl Farms 4 and for a site proposed by Bruce Youngblood in Section 25 of Bristol Township will be reviewed by the supervisors next Monday, with the Youngblood review at 9 am and the Grey Owl Farms review at 9:15.
Visit the document center on the county’s website, Planning and Zoning folder, to look at the master matrix for each project.
Public hearings on both sites are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 18. The Youngblood hearing will be at 9 am and the Grey Owl Farms hearing will be at 9:30.
